Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 26, 2026
Kelo is built so that we cannot see your financial plan. Every simulation runs on your iPhone. We do not operate servers that receive your scenario data, because we do not need to. This page describes, in plain language, what that means for you.
1. Data We Collect
None. Kelo collects no personal information, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, and no identifiers. The App Store nutrition label for Kelo reads "Data Not Collected" for all categories.
2. Data Stored On Your Device
Your scenarios — portfolio values, annual spending, allocation, FIRE mode, Social Security assumptions, ACA inputs — are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework inside the app's sandboxed container.
Kelo never transmits this data to us or to any third party. It only leaves your iPhone via Apple's iCloud — either through Kelo's optional CloudKit sync or through your device's standard iCloud Backup (see Section 3). Both are governed by Apple, not by us. Kelo, as a simulation tool, is for illustrative purposes only and not financial advice — see our Financial Disclaimer.
3. Optional iCloud Sync
Sync is off by default on real devices and can be toggled in Settings → Sync. When enabled, your scenario data synchronizes across your devices using Apple's CloudKit private database, scoped to your personal Apple ID (container ID: iCloud.com.kelo.app).
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We do not operate the storage and we have no technical means to access it — we hold no keys, no credentials, and no copies. If you turn on Apple's Advanced Data Protection for iCloud (iOS 16.2 or later), your CloudKit data is end-to-end encrypted and even Apple cannot read it.
Your iPhone's built-in backup system — iCloud Backup or a local Finder/iTunes backup — may also include Kelo's app data as part of the normal device backup, regardless of whether you enable Kelo's iCloud sync. This is controlled by iOS, not by Kelo. iCloud Backup is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest; it is end-to-end encrypted only when Advanced Data Protection is on. We do not receive, process, or access backed-up data. To exclude Kelo from iCloud Backup, go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Backups → [Your Device] and toggle Kelo off.
4. What We Cannot Do
- We cannot see your scenario inputs, results, or assumptions.
- We cannot recover or export your data — you own it entirely.
- We cannot sell your data — we never receive it.
- We cannot share it with advertisers, brokers, or aggregators — the app contains no code that transmits plan data to our servers.
5. App Tracking Transparency
Kelo does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. Accordingly, Kelo does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
6. Third-Party Services
The Kelo app itself uses no third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, crash reporters, or advertising networks. The only external service integrated into the app is Apple's CloudKit — and only if you turn on iCloud sync.
Email sent to [email protected] is handled by Zoho Mail (Zoho Corporation) acting as our email service provider. The contents of the email, your email address, and any information you voluntarily include are processed by Zoho under its privacy policy. We retain support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable follow-up period thereafter.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Kelo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children because we do not collect personal information at all.
8. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
Kelo does not sell personal information. Kelo does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we do not collect personal information, there is nothing for you to access, delete, correct, or opt out of under the CCPA/CPRA.
9. EU/UK Residents (GDPR)
For data generated inside the Kelo app, we do not act as a data controller because we do not collect or process it — every simulation runs on your iPhone. When iCloud sync is enabled, your data is processed by Apple under Apple's own iCloud terms and privacy policy. Apple is an independent data controller for iCloud services. We do not direct or control how Apple stores or processes iCloud data.
If you contact us by email at [email protected], we act as the data controller for the contents of your message and your email address, with Zoho Mail as our processor (see Section 6). Under the GDPR/UK GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of this correspondence at any time by writing to the same address.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Local data on your device persists until you delete it. You can remove all app data by deleting the app from your iPhone. If iCloud sync was enabled, you can also remove the app's iCloud container via iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Kelo.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the effective date above will change and the updated version will be available on this page immediately. For material changes, we will also surface the update in the app the next time you open it.
